Help

Short answers to what comes up once a tool is open. The library is made by one person, who also reads the mail.

Say which tool, what you did and what you expected. A screenshot or the file it made helps. Replies can take a few days.

Use a tool with no connection

On a tool's page, choose Download zip, unzip it, and open index.html in any current browser. It is the same file the site runs, without the site's links bar on top, so it works the same with the network off. Nothing needs installing.

Read a laser file

Tools that make files for a laser export SVG drawn at real size, in millimetres, or in inches where the tool offers them. Unless a tool's page says otherwise, the layers use the colours xTool XCS and LightBurn expect:

cut score engrave

That is pure red (#FF0000) for cut, pure blue (#0000FF) for score and black for engrave. Two tools differ: the sign maker follows the laser you pick, and its preview's Laser layers view shows which colour is which step; the wall planter adds a second score layer in green (#00A000) for a deeper score. Photo engrave prep makes a PNG to engrave rather than a vector. Map every colour to a setting in your laser software before you send the job.

Make a test piece first

Material varies from its label: sheet sold as 3 mm can measure 3.2 mm, and filament and printers differ in how tight a fit comes out. Where a tool exports a fit test, test strip or test card, make it first from the same material, check it, and correct the thickness, clearance or power setting before the full job.

Print a 3D part, or use a sound file

The 3D printing tools export STL, which any slicer opens; check the part's size in the slicer before you print. The music tools export WAV, which plays anywhere, and MIDI, which opens in any music software so you can keep the notes and change the sounds.

My saved settings are gone

Tools that remember settings keep them in this browser, for the address you opened the tool at. The site and a downloaded copy are two different addresses, so each keeps its own. A private window keeps nothing after it closes, and clearing site data removes them. The data page lists what is kept where.

A tool is missing, or you built one

The submit page has a prompt that packages a tool you built in a Claude chat, and the checklist a tool has to pass to be listed.
