Privacy policy

The short version

The tools on this site run in your browser and send nothing anywhere. Each one is served under a policy that blocks every network request, and the copy you download is the same file, so it behaves the same offline. Anything you type into a tool, any file you open in one, and any file it makes for you stays with you. The site itself keeps no account and sets no cookie; it may one day use aggregate analytics to learn how the library is used, and if it does, this page will say which and what they collect, before they run.

Who we are

Good Tools is published by BluffWorks LLC, based in Virginia. For the purposes of data protection law (including the GDPR), BluffWorks LLC is the data controller for the personal data described on this page: what you send to our email addresses, and the connection data Cloudflare handles when it serves this site.

The tools

What a tool does with your input: it works on it in the page and nothing else. A logo you open in the puzzle maker, the numbers you set in a planner, a settings file you reopen: none of it is uploaded, because the page is not allowed to make a network request. The policy is a response header on every tool page, and the downloadable copy carries no code that could reach the network either.

What a tool keeps: some tools remember your settings between visits in your browser's own storage, on your device, and say so on their page. Clearing site data removes it.

Inside a tool there is no telemetry or tracking code, and the validator that admits a tool to this library rejects any that reaches for the network.

This website

The site is static files served by Cloudflare. Cloudflare handles the connection and keeps its own logs on its own terms. The one thing the site stores in your browser is your light-or-dark choice, if you set it. There are no cookies, and no account: nothing here identifies you between visits.

Analytics: none today. We expect to add aggregate, privacy-respecting analytics to understand which tools people use and where they get stuck. If that happens, this page will name the service and what it collects before it is switched on, and it will apply to the site's own pages only, never inside a tool or a download.

Accounts: none today. If accounts arrive, to save configurations or manage what you have made, they will be optional, and this page will describe what an account stores before the first one exists.

Submissions

If you send a tool by email, we keep the message, the zip and your address for as long as we need them to review, reply and publish. A published tool carries the author name and link you put in its manifest, under the license you chose. Ask and we will take a tool down or change its attribution.

Your rights

You can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how it is used. Since the tools send nothing and the site keeps no account, in practice this covers email you have sent us. Write to the address above, once it is listed here.

Changes

When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Adding analytics or accounts would be a change to this page first.
